On May 21, 1962, the Romara was launched from the Rockport town landing. Roland Blanchet of Rockport built the 30-foot boat from scratch over the course of 4 and a half years. It was blessed by Rev. Donald W. Whalen of St. Joachim's Catholic Church the Sunday before launch, and his wife Martta christened the boat.
